Athlete Behavior and Grade Check Policies
Athletic Clearance
Students cannot try out for a team without an athleticclearance.com account started, with parent/guardian info, student info and signatures completed.
Completed physicals must be submitted to the athletic director, Amie Leas, once an athlete has made the team and before they can participate in competition.
Grade Checks
On Thursday evenings teachers will be emailed a Google Form with a list of Einstein Athletes on it and questions about the athletes. Teachers will submit the Google Form by the end of the school day on Friday (form will remain open until Monday morning).
This form will include 5 questions:
Which athletes are failing class?
Which athletes are in danger of failing?
Which athletes have behavior that needs improvement?
Which athletes have behavior that is unacceptable?
For students in danger of failing or failing do you offer extra help? When?
Behavioral expectations for Students playing Sports
If students are having behavioral issues in the classroom that are not corrected within 2 weeks, players will be placed on a Behavior Contract that can limit their ability to participate on their team. Behavior Contracts will be created individually, case by case. Failure of the student to adhere to the contract could result in suspension or removal from the team
Grades
Quarterly- Students receiving below a 1.5 GPA or more than 2 F’s on their most recent report card cannot be placed on a team.
Weekly/Bi-Weekly- Students earning F’s in their classes have 2 weeks to bring up their grades. After 2 weeks if students have made no effort or are still trying to improve their grade, they will be placed on an Academic Contract. Academic Contracts will be created individually, case by case. Failure of the student to adhere to the contract could result in suspension or removal from the team.
